A shared vision for better mooring — worldwide

MooringMate was born at sea.
While sailing across the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and the Pacific with my family, one thing became clear in almost every bay we visited: finding a safe, reliable mooring buoy was far harder than it should be.
Not because solutions don't exist — but because the system around them often doesn't.
A challenge sailors and communities share
Across countries and regions, the same problems repeat themselves:
No clear information on mooring availability
No reliable way to know whether a buoy is suitable for a specific vessel
No simple booking or payment process — and often no one to even pay
No way to report damaged or missing buoys
And little to no digital infrastructure to manage it all
No possibility to book additional services like tours, restaurants, fresh fruits, vegetables or bread
For sailors, this creates uncertainty and frustration.
For local communities, it means missed opportunities — economically and environmentally.
The bigger picture
Anchoring damages the seabed, especially in sensitive areas with seagrass meadows and coral reefs. Well-designed mooring buoys are a proven, sustainable alternative.
They:
Protect marine ecosystems
Improve safety on the water
Create local jobs
Generate fair, recurring income for coastal communities
But without a shared platform to manage, book, and promote those moorings, even the best systems remain fragmented, underused, and hard to maintain.
Why we're building MooringMate
We're a small but growing team of sailors, developers, and marine enthusiasts. Our goal is simple and focused:
Help sailors and providers find, book, and manage mooring buoys — safely, sustainably, and simply.

MooringMate is more than a booking platform. It's a tool designed to:
Give sailors confidence and peace of mind
Enable providers and communities to earn fair income
Support governments and NGOs with data and management tools
And ultimately, protect the waters we all depend on
Join Me in Building This
MooringMate is still in its early stages — and that's exactly what makes this moment exciting. Whether you're a sailor, a marina operator, a community leader, a marine biologist, or someone who simply loves the sea — your perspective matters.
I'm building this openly, step by step, with the people who will use it. If this resonates with you, I'd love to hear from you.
